Medicaid reimburses for telepsychiatry in most states PDF Print E-mail

Medicaid reimbursement for telehealth varies from state to state. Some states (approximately 14) do not reimburse for Telehealth. Some states reimburse for the encounter + a separate CPT code (Q3014 - Telehealth originating site facility fee) to pay for technology costs + supervision on the client side.

Typically, the facility fee is reimbursed $17-$20 per session (above and beyond the physician's fee).   Please contact Secure Telehealth or your state Medicaid office for details.

Typcally, State Medicaid offices allow reimbursement for:

  • Office or other outpatient visits (CPT codes 99203 - 99205, 99215)
  • Individual psychotherapy (CPT codes 90804-90809)
  • Psychiatric diagnostic interview examination (CPT code 90801)
  • Pharmacologic management (CPT code 90862)
